Speaking after winning the second men 10000m final at the sixth and final Athletics Kenya (AK) Track and Field series meeting in Eldoret on Saturday, Birech emphatically declared he would attack Kenyan born Qatari Saif Saeed Shaheen’s 7:53.63 record set on September 3, 2004 in Brussels. “This year, I have trained enough and I have my plans, I want to attempt the world steeplechase record in the Diamond League because I have trained harder than previous years because I will have achieved the thing I have wanted most before the Olympics.
